For several years, Temitayo struggled to find good quality resources locally to fill roles at his company. Although there were always tons of young Africans applying for jobs, the majority of them did not have the right skills. This was so frustrating that he decided to select some of the unskilled young graduates seeking job openings randomly through a Facebook post, housed them in his home, and trained them.

In a few months, they had advanced significantly in their knowledge and were interning at his firm. He repeated this process with a second batch of young people and achieved even better results. Then, in 2019, together with a team of people committed to this mission, Skillup Africa was launched in six locations in Lagos and a major campus in Epe, offering evening and weekend classes. The success recorded in this pilot wasn’t as expected, so the team resorted to creating a model based on Temitayo’s initial experience, which proved to be highly successful.

In 2020, the first cohort of Skillup Africa’s (then graduate) training program started with 17 fellows, and the program has continued to grow since then. Although his team has been embarking on several training programs since 2013, the Euidem Foundation (the NGO powering Skillup Africa) was officially registered in 2020.
